Windows 8.1 boot - no action for 10 seconds

Hello,

I recently ran into the problem where my Windows 8.1 install will boot into the desktop, but not initiate any other applications for about 10 seconds. I have checked the Serialize/Startupdelay... registry key and it's fine.

Please see a screenshot of boot trace via Performance Recorder. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

You do have a lot of programs in your start up list - that is programs which load as you open Windows?

Perhaps if you delayed these opening - or perhaps even stopped unnecessary programs opening at all at boot up you would see an improvement in the timing.

There are lots of applications to delay startup, one is Winpatrol. There is a free version http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

I have used this software for a long time with no problems. There are other applications that do a similar job.
