You may have trouble downloading a large file as the file will have not completed downloading when the two hours have elapsed. The result of which is that you have just wasted two hours and you will have to try again to download the file.There a few ways to enable you to download a large file within the two hours.1) Only download the file and do not surf the internet or download any emails. You will find that only downloading the file and doing nothing else will enable your connection to work at its best. You can still use your computer but do not attempt to use anything connected with the internet.2) Do not download at peak periods as this is when there are millions of people using the internet at the same time. The result, will be a slow download and connections will suffer.3) If you can, try and connect early in the morning and attempt a download, as this when we have the time difference in our favor. You should find connections are faster and you might be able to download a large file.4) If the website where you are attempting the download, gives you the chance to download a compressed *.zip folder then download this as opposed to the larger *.exe files. A compressed folder will be smaller than the larger *.exe file. You may need WinZip from here to take advantage of this.5) Try another website or "Mirror" where the same file maybe available for download.Using an Application to help you.A certain application can be used to help with files that are simply to big to be downloaded within two hours. The application is known as a Download Manager.It works by making multiple connections to the website where you are attempting to download a file. The result of this is that you have the ability to resume the download.If you find that you are disconnected the download manager will resume the download from where it was interrupted. There is no need to start the download all over again. You can even pause the download, disconnect from the internet, then reconnect and then resume the download. Download managers are very useful for very large files or troublesome files that download slowly.Fresh Download is one of many download managers.It has the ability to integrate with your Internet Explorer so whenever you try to download a file. Fresh download will cut in and take care of the download. This is useful but luckily you can turn it of by going to Options, Integration and remove the tick in the box next to Integrate into Microsoft Internet Explorer and then click OK. (see pic below)If you have the integration feature turned off you can still use fresh download, all you need is a link (the path to the file).On the website where you want to download the file, right click on the link (to the file) and click Copy Shortcut. Then in fresh download, click Add and then paste (the link) into the box next to URL: Then click OK and the file should start to download. If it does not click Start from the main fresh download window. (see pic below)When the file is downloading you should see a progress window appear. From this window you can pause the download [by clicking pause]. When the download is paused you can take the opportunity to reconnect to the internet for a further two hours of downloading.(see pic below)Once you have reconnected to the internet you can then resume the download [by clicking resume]. Download managers can be a great boon for us poor sodds on a 56k.BT openworld, no swearing please :rolleyes: have increased there connection time for off peak.
