Refresh Button

Recommended Posts

Quite frequently now when I click on the refresh button to update the page I get the HTML version of the page - I'm usually on the active topics page. Clicking on it a few more times and I'm back to normal As far as I can tell it's only happening on this site. Mind when I'm on-line I'm usually here.

I'm running Win98 SE with Internet explorer 5.5. I've tried clearing out all the temp. files, defragged and repaired explorer several times. Is it only me or does it happen to anyone else?

Never tried F5 or the right click button before, but it happens with those as well. Didn't used to happen. thinking back it seems to have happened since I installed a copy of FrontPage - For my website. That's why I recognise the text as HTML. It's FrontPage 2000. Could this be causing a conflict?

Ok then if the advice is only to use the forum links how do we do a refresh? For example if I were to click on a thread and read it through short of using the back button on my mouse - M$ Intellimouse Optical - or click on the back button on the tool bar how do I get back to the active topics page. Also, how can I refresh or update the page?

To go back to an original page, right click on a blank area of the screen and select 'back' from the drop down menu.

I have to admit though that if I click 'refresh' any number of times it causes no problem, neither does the back button.

I think I've cracked it! All sorts of other funnies have started to happen in that Gif images suddenly stopped loading. But the refresh problem was only happening here. Anyway as repairing IE5.5 wasn't having any effect I decided to un-install it, by reverting back to 5.0 and re-installing it. While it was going through it's re-boot procedure I dug out the PCA disc with the 5.5 version then tried to install it and it seems to have vanished from the disc! Tried all ways for installing but no-go. So in desperation I downloaded IE 6.0 from M$ and now everything seems to be hunky dory. Funny thing is that I had originally ditched 6.0 in favour of 5.5 because of instability problems and Freecell being screwed up. Now, however, all seems OK after a whole 24 hours without problems. If I get any more problems I'll post. Especially for Shirley-Crabtree. :D
