Guest nellie2
A friend has windows ME and is having a problem with it freezing.. as far as I can tell there isn't anything specifically that she is doing to cause the freeze. I have cleaned the pc for her... run adaware.. (over 400 nasties were sitting there!!!) checked out the start up in msconfig, cleared out temp internet files and defragged.Im not familliar with ME... can anyone give me some troubleshooting tips for when I next go to see her? Redhat
Even MS are ashamed of ME :D If that didn't help, I'd upgrade to xp.
Terryala
:P ME ME ME. I had it and one of the nice features of it is that it freezes. It came with my box and was always trouble until I upgraded to XP Pro. When it would freeze had to restart ( Button on front of box) to get it going. Just make sure that they keep the computer temp files etc cleaned out. Found thru searchs and from other forums thats the way ME is . Good luck.Grand Dad
Paul
ME freezes because it has monumental problems with memory management, it suffers with memory leakage which is the likely culprit of the system freezes your friend is experiencing, there is no cure that I know of, you can try memory management progs such as cachman but it made things 10 times worse for me.In the end the only real fix is an upgrade to XP.
