prob with spybot s&d

hello you lot!! ive got a wee problem with spybot. when i click on check for updates, it comes up with a couple. but when i click the download updates button, it does nothing. doesnt respond at all, eventually get a sign up saying programme not responding. any ideas?? i can scan for problems and fix them and the rest, just cant download updates. ive tried uninstalling it then re-installing it, but still to no avail!! im on xp. any advice would be grateful. ive also got ad-aware on and spywareblaster but not having any problems with either of them. :wacko: 1zhelp

I can't be sure but I seem to remember that Spybot doesn't work too well with Adaware....last time I had them both on my system I had a load of warnings from Spybot saying that Adaware would create conflicts with it.

Maybe I remember wrong :P

You can use both, but the warning is that if one has quaraintined something, the other may pick it up in Quarantine.

I have used both for the best part of a year now, with no problems with either.

(Several machines - Win 98, 2K and XP - infact they were both on it under ME as well come to think of it, I just ditched ME a while back!)

The best answer, Poppy is to go for the Australian mirror (unless it's very late at night, and they are all awake!)

I've got exactly the same problem, poppy.  It can see updates but just won't download them.  I go to the site and d/l anything new from there.  I don't have Adaware installed so that's not the cause, although when I did Spybot made reference to it.

Have you tried clicking onto a site other than the European one?
