Perhaps one with a break-out box so you can get all your stuff plugged in easily.Found this, Creative Audigy which has a break-out box. That Terratec card looks the business at £160 but a true break-out box would enable the PC to be in a sound-proofed location while still getting access to all the inputs. For a 'silent' PC and a Terratec like that I'd go for a P4 system, but it's more expensive.Nice PSU quiet, 550watt but only one fan. £37.77 +vat + carriage ( Note: 23dBa)Interesting read on PSU sound. Basically i'll need the whole kit except a monitor. The motherboard can have onboard graphics which don't need 2 be anything special. I've been looking at the sound cards you mentioned before and the Creative was one i saw myself getting but then i saw the TerraTec card and it seems to have all the inputs i would need (for turntables, external effex boxes) and seems reasonable (about £150 is the cheapest i saw) What do you reckon to the TerraTec DMX6Fire soundcard? i'm going 2 be sorted for software so i have saved money there at least. Keep looking though. :DAgree with Moon, asking 200 and it doesnt have any midi in/out!!!The noise from the PC itself won't affect your recording at all if you going the direct recording route ie:midi straight into your soundcard.The surrounding noise whether it be from a PC or something else will only affect it if your recording through a mic, ie Mic'ing up and Amplifier or recording vocals, even then the noise from a standard pc won't be heard from a decent distance.RegardsDamo Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He will want to gatecrash Dan's studio with his trumpet and he's real fussy ! :D However, Dan's PSU is ultra quiet , as is his CPU heatsink so it SHOULD be OK to use a bay box. I've looked around at other ones but 4 all the connections i need and within the price range it came out best. Col i went 4 the dmx6fire, the input/outputs were the best in the under £200 range.
