Letter in todays paper.

My sister worked part-time at a Health Service blood bank until she was 70. She was allowed to carry on working for so long because no one else would take the job.

The work was simply making sandwiches and so on for the doctors and staff. My sister was as regular as clockwork and highly respected. When she was finally forced to retire, they couldn't get a reliable person to replace her so they registered with an employment agency.

My sister wanted to carry on working so she signed on with the same agency and got her old job back at the same blood bank. The local NHS Trust now pays twice as much to the agency for the same worker.
