7-in-1 card reader trouble

Don't know if this is software or hardware related.

My reader is USB and sits in a 3.5" bay. When I load its software there are only three storage drives shown in 'My Computer' ( Win 2K) When I don't load its software and simply let Windows detect it there are four storage drives shown. I can't get all seven drives up at once. Anyone cast light on an ol' Digger's dark journey into the unknown ?

I recently got a Typhoon 8 in one reader (from Lidl). It has four slots each accepting two different types of card (only one at a time). Windows detects 4 external drives so I'm presuming that one drive is used for two different types of card - used it with SD and CF, works fine.

Same here, my 7-in-1 shows up as 4 drives.

3 of them take 2 different types of card each and the last one just takes CF
