mjsilverstone
Hi, I have a Samsung SM 308B Combo drive, my problem is that the drive has stopped responding. When I've inserted a disc, Cd, DVD Or any other disc the green light flashes, makes a few faint noises and then nothing, no error messages! If I click on the D drive icon, in "My Computer" all I get is 'please insert disc.' I have made no recent changes, no programs added or deleted, but the system did crash. I'm running Windows Me. Can anyone help!
Guest ellas
Make sure that all the cables and other stuff is secure. Next make sure the jumpers are set and any bios options are correct, try uninstalling in device manager,if its there, and restart windows to let it reinstall it,if nothing works a reinstall of me might sort it out, also try a lens cleaner,if nothing works try and get hold of another cdrom and test it with that if possible to see if your unit is faulty. trackrat
Have you been into device manager to make sure their are no exclamation or question marks against the drive. Also have you tried a system restore as you say your machine crashed and from your post I presume it was working allright before the crash.
