I know where the widest stretches of roads are and the safest section's are, and roughly what speed i should be doing thru what bit.Around margate i always see the stupid fool's that risk dangerous overtaking even just pulling out along my road (IE a scooter did this weekend and if a police car decides to come along at high speed, i know what would win). I am sorry to say that there are some young idiot's especially round here that pass their test and within a week or 2 go round like the clapper's in their nova's and a week later wonder why they are in hospital.But there again is as has been said older driver's that do sit there outside lane doing 60, when you are coming down and you end up under-taking or flashing your lights to move in....Just seems to me that some youngsters think they know what they are doing and are very observatant, but the older driver's i feel just dont use the mirrors enough and know where they are.... djohn Posted April 19, 2004 Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 For those that are really interested in driving at it's best, you can purchase the "Police Class 1 driving handbook" from HMSO, it can also be ordered through WH Smiths. Your local police station will put you in touch with retired "Class 1" drivers or members of the IAM/ROSPA who will give you a couple of hours of their time in coaching. Most of this can be done free of charge.Give it a go and let them pull you to pieces, you'll be surprised just how much enjoyment can still be had from motoring after going through their hands. As a bonus you'll find that all of a sudden your not caught behind doddering old motorist or have young red-blooded lads tailgating and overtaking you in a dangerous manner. Why? Because they teach you how to get the best from your vehicle and how to avoid the above dangers.PS: Not all elderly or young motorist fit into the above two categories by any means and some of them are excellent drivers/motorist. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
