Words needed!

I need some words...but they need to be fairly specific so no random ones please :)

I need a word that describes work that is done by 'business executives' or people who are free to think, don't do prescribed tasks and are often left to their own devices to get on with something.

I then need the opposite of that (or the other way around!) to describe people who do one or two set tasks - for example those people that work in a call centre spend nearly all their time answering the phone, or dealing with enquiries from post/email.

Have a feeling that cognition has something to do with it but not sure....so any suggestions?

This is a difficult one......... I have never really tried to describe what I do in a few words.

I have a number of objectives to work towards throughout my reporting year, in addition to that I am given a specific goal or number of goals to achieve by a given time. But how I go about achieving those goals is up to me.

Before I got promoted I had objectives to work towards but my working day was set out for me, I had specific tasks to complete.... I came in and got on with it.

Sorry I haven't been much help here. :(

Executive: Is probably the best "Job" Description for a person with the role of free thinking and the authority to make decisions.

Designate: Or Designated: Would, (I think) be the opposite in the sense of job description as relating to a designated task/Role/job description.
