Guest Rebel=UK=
I dont smoke right for the simple reason i withstood all the pier pressure (most people i think started @ school cos they thought it made you look hard, and fit in ) . I dont like people smoking around me tho it really gets on my tits.
don't ask
Smoking does nothing positive towards the health and well being of anyone. Any "buzz" obtained from one's first few uses of this stuff are quickly lost and remaining after that is an addiction - in the true meaning of that word.Yes, I did smoke at one time - I stopped in 1983 and never regretted it. It wasn't easy but I managed to do it and I've not had a single cigarette since.I see smokers now and think how foolish they are but, I would never presume to lecture them on their addiction. As long as I have enough fresh air to breathe then it doesn't bother me.What I do object to is of people rabbiting on, whinging, whining and moaning on about smoking and smokers when they have zero hope of having any influence on the smokers themselves. As I said above, smoking is an addiction and only a determination on the part of the addict to stop the habit will have any effect on him (or her) doing that.I'm with pops !!(now 36 days without a fag - and with nails that once were beautiful talons now bitten down to the quick and hurting badly and some fingers swollen  weight gone up enormously and blood pressure sky high - doc adjusting my medication :o )Very glad I gave up though     (yeah - mixed emotions, even although I was told 36 days ago that I have emphysema, which was noticed as a result of a CT scan for something completely unrelated  )Never was a real heavy smoker though - have gone cold turkey - no use replacing one habit with another (says she who can't stop stuffing her face at the moment !!! )Once I get over the twitches I will be fine. :D
artist
I smoked 20 -30 a day until feb 1984. I stopped - just stopped! It was hell to start with but I got a huge painting-by-numbers kit and did a bit every time I had the urge to smoke - it was 3 months before I felt able to go into a smokey atmosphere. I did put on weight - but it was a small price to pay. The doctor had said that my chest sounded like an old persons . I had become aware of people gasping for breath whilst puffing on a cigarette - and it scared the hell out of me. Strangely - I developed asthma. Not too serious except when I get a cold or chest infection. So I wonder if it was to do with packing up the weed? I haven't got any worries about people smoking - it's their life. But I won't have people smoking in my house - although most don't anyway.
