Tankus
Ive just experienced my first XP BSOD since Ive been running it (now my XP Cherry's gone)I was running Gladiator with its new update in the background (AVG also on) , while on this forum , when I ran my tracks eraser (cookie crunching monster.....ok so I'm paraniod...but it takes all sorts!).....and it caused a blue screen of death and an auto reboot...oooeeerrr .....surprised or what !Bit daft running this all stuff at the same time , but XP is so robust compared to my old 98SE , its easy to forget the old scheme of things......When I get a problem in XP and it asks me to report it , I usually do, as it strikes me as a good idea if Bill knows there are the occasional problems out there with his baby !When the computer auto rebooted and logged on (I'm on broadband)It took me straight to this page........................oooeerrrrr ....... you need MS passport to sign inhttps://oca.microsoft.com/en/secure/status.aspWhere apparently Ive had a previous problem.......(which I had forgotten about as I managed to resolve it myself...It was an old drivers issue for my creative web-cam) , which stated that it had been resolved by MS and had a link..............This new crash was also listed , and would be dealt with by MS when they had sufficient information from other users with the same problem, in order to help them resolve the conflict.... I was somewhat surprised that this feature is not advertised when you report a problem as it could be quite usefull.......... I am liking XP more and more............ ! Scarthy © ® ™
I have had quite a few now. The worst one was just before I had to reformat back in September. I have had quite a few when quitting UT2003 more recently.....None for a while though (touchwood) ;)
Tankus
When I had 98 SE on my older comp I used to do a full reformat from scratch every 6 months or so , because of the constant deleting and downloading that I was doing !....just to keep the computer fresh and speedy ...........Ive had to use restore once or twice in the last year that I ve had XP on my comps , but that was mainly due to a stubborn virus infection (back door fraggle trojan which kept rebooting itself from the windows registry)But I have to admit XP was worth the £70 I paid to upgrade my 98 oooeerrr praising the Bill G....whatever next ?
