Boris Posted April 26, 2004 Report Share Posted April 26, 2004 I ran the on-line Pest Patrol scan which has identified this file :-Dialup Assistant 2.41 (dialupass.exe)as containing Trojan.PSW.Stealer.cDetails :- http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/t/trojan_psw_stealer.aspI have also scanned it with the latest versions of aSquared, The Cleaner, Ad-Aware, AVG7, SpBot and SpySweeper - none of which found this alleged password stealer.I got the little freeware utility from http://nirsoft.multiservers.com/ where it is described as :- Dialupass v2.41Shows the logon details of all Dial-Up entries, including the User name, password, and the domain. It works perfectly in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. In Windows 2000/XP, the Dialupass utility can reveal the Dial-Up passwords only if you are logged on with administrator privileges.It does exactly what I want in revealing peoples forgotten ISP passwords - but is it also hiding something nasty - unbeknown to me ? :unsure: Any ideas ? It isn't in The Cleaner's database which I find a bit strange....are you getting anything trying to access the internet through your firewall? Like you - I just can't believe that PP has a unique grasp on this one !I might just refer it back to NirSoft to see what they say - their other free utilities are all pukka as far as can find out. What should I do ? A: First of all, All the utilities in my Web site are clean, and they don't contain any virus or trojan. Unfortunately, it seems that some Antivirus companies tends to "invent" fake viruses that doesn't really exist. Maybe they do it just to impress their customers by showing them that their antivirus "detects" viruses on their system. If your antivirus software reports that utilities you downloaded from this Web site are infected with a virus or trojan, I highly recommend you to contact your antivirus company and ask them to deeply check if these files are really infected with virus.
