Hi all, First post! Hope this is in the right category although it may coincide with security. There is one computer (where I work) where it is absolutely essential that the sound remains on at all times. We have found that users sometimes turn this off as it can be a little offputting but it must remain on. Emails from supervisors and verbal notices have not changed the situation. Removing the audio icon from the taskbar changed nothing as the user just goes directly into the Control Panel. My question is, can I disable all audio settings throughout the machine so they always remain on, or is there somewhere in Windows that logs the setting change so we can narrow down the time it happened? I have looked through Event Viewer but nothing jumps out. Also, the user must have local admin rights. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -
Hey guys. I have recently changed from Windows 7 64bit to Windows xp 32bit and i have had problem with Audio Drivers. I have tried to used Realtek AC'97 Driver (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP2003) and i have had no success it keeps coming up with no Sound Driver installed even tho i have installed this Driver so i tried to look through the Sound Drivers and i found that it said that the driver needed to update and so i tried to up date it and no luck nothing happens so then i tried re-installing the driver multiple times and yet no luck. So is there anyone with a solution to this like a Driver or a tutorial please i really need help... My regards Johnyboy

So I've had this problem for the last week, I have no audio whatsoever. I thought the problem might be the sound card, but the guys down at the tech store told me it was a problem with the computer not recognizing Realtek Audio as a device. Sure enough, in device manager the Realtek Audio option is gone! The guy at the tech store told me that to reinstall whatever it is I'm now suddenly missing I would have to nuke the computer. I just wanted to make sure, is there any way I could solve this problem without nuking my computer? Thank you very much! I wasn't quite sure where to put this so I put it in this section, if an admin knows a better place for this thread then please move it.

Hi I'm trying to help my mum fix her laptop audio issues, but I'm not sure what the problem is. She has a standard Lenovo Windows 7 laptop. She is currently using an external microphone and audio (speaker) setup. The internal microphone no longer works, so it is no longer an option to use that to text where the issue is coming from. Whenever she says anything into the microphone, there is considerable feedback; as in everything she says will be repeated back at the same volume verbatim. Can anyone tell me what I should do to fix this? Thanks, Linh
