  1. Recently i have wanted to uninstall a game called cod4 so i needed to find the registry key of it. I went on regedit and i found HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\{437269CD-D66F-44FD-ABD5-D8F5191FC3EC} and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\{B2CB09FF-2453-4f85-9F40-21C05BE4CBA8} Can you please tell me what programs these are. Even if they are not my game I would like to know what they are please. Thanks in advance :)
  2. Here is my issue; I have Windows 7 and Windows 8 on one hard drive as a dual boot. In order, Windows 7 is first and Windows 8 is second. I am running out of space on my Windows 8 partition and would like to remove Windows 7 completely to utilize that space for Windows 8. My question is how can I remove Windows seven on the first partition without messing up Windows 8 and boot up? I've had major issues before with a dual boot of XP and Windows 7. When removing XP I could not boot into anything since I had taken out the boot files. I have access to usb sticks of 4 gigs each but no space to back anything up. I do not need anything from Windows seven so no need to back anything up from it. Thanks for the help in advance!
  3. I'm running Windows XP SP3, with all the latest updates for Windows. Recently an Avira Free antivirus scan had these results: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\59\10b513bb-7e0be406 [0] Archive type: ZIP --> App.class [DETECTION] Contains recognition pattern of the JAVA/Paladin.A Java virus --> Ballau.class [DETECTION] Contains recognition pattern of the JAVA/Agent.MY Java virus --> Burrow.class [DETECTION] Contains recognition pattern of the JAVA/Paladin.B Java virus --> Robonuka.class [DETECTION] Contains recognition pattern of the JAVA/Capsy.A Java virus --> Str.class [DETECTION] Contains recognition pattern of the JAVA/Dldr.Agent.AQ Java virus Following the recommendation, I moved the file to Quarantine. I also submitted this file to Avira as a possible false positive. They replied: Please find a detailed report concerning each individual sample below: Filename Result META-INF/MANIFEST.MF CLEAN The file 'META-INF/MANIFEST.MF' has been determined to be 'CLEAN'. Our analysts did not discover any malicious content. Filename Result App.class MALWARE The file 'App.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat JAVA/Paladin.A. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 7.11.45.232. Filename Result Ballau.class MALWARE The file 'Ballau.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat JAVA/Agent.MY. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 7.11.45.232. Filename Result Burrow.class MALWARE The file 'Burrow.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat JAVA/Paladin.B. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 7.11.45.232. Filename Result Parasno.class MALWARE The file 'Parasno.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat Java/Jogek.DQ. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection will be added to our virus definition file (VDF) with one of the next updates. Filename Result Robonuka.class MALWARE The file 'Robonuka.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat JAVA/Capsy.A. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 7.11.45.232. Filename Result Str.class MALWARE The file 'Str.class' has been determined to be 'MALWARE'. Our analysts named the threat JAVA/Dldr.Agent.AQ. The term "JAVA/" denotes a virulent Java-Applet or–Application. Detection is added to our virus definition file (VDF) starting with version 7.11.45.232. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I decided to install the new Java 7 Update 9, and downloaded the file JavaSetup7u9.exe from the Java website, but didn't install yet. First in Add or Remove Programs, I attempted to uninstall Java 7 Update 7. The Windows installer opened and the progress bar went through the usual process ("Please wait while Windows configures Java"), but then a separate window "Add or Remove Programs" popped up saying: "Fatal error during installation." Java 7 Update 7 was still listed in the Add or Remove Programs list. I tried installing the new Java 7 Update 9, and the Java Setup window worked for awhile, until the final message: "Installation Failed The wizard was interrupted before Java 7 Update 9 could be completely installed. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." At this point I tried installing again, with same results. I returned to the Java website and downloaded the offline version: jre-7u9-windows-i586.exe I tried this and Java also failed to install. I thought something might be wrong with the Windows installer, so went to Microsoft site, and downloaded the latest installer WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe, ran it, and rebooted. I tried uninstalling Java 7 Update 7 again, but failed again. Same failed results with trying to install Java 7 Update 9. Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Hello! You have definetely seen topics like this and you will see more if you write it in google. But I can honestly say that I've read almost every post in web that is similar to this problem. Recently I bought a new laptop which had Linux OS. I had a Windows 7 installation CD at home so I decided to try Linux, but if I'm not satisfied, install Windows 7. Unfortunately Linux (to be more accutare - Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 11) is not the OS for me, and I began to search through web different ways how to uninstall Linux, and it's a nightmare. Someone gives an advice but in the next site it appears to damage the computer, motherboard, and can crash everything possible. I have seen words liek "MBR", "hard drive partitions" and other ghosts (I'm new at computer stuff so it all looks to me like chinese language) that gives me an advice to use command prompt in Linux (to be honest, everything I tried to do with this thing just made it harder and harder). Codes, codes and codes, but no answer I could understand. Then I found a post which said to insert the Windows 7 installation CD, boot the computer and choose to boot it from DVD. I stopped to do anything at the step when Windows gave me a choice to install the OS at on of 6 partitions, not one of them allowed to install something related to Windows (nfts) files. And the next moment is this - when I'm asking to help, because I'm more than desperate right now. Already saying THANK YOU to every answer this post will get!
  5. Hi Firstly, sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, but I'm new here. Anyways: I recently purchased a new Win 7 laptop (HP Envy 14 Spectre), purchased from Amazon. It is equipped with the Sandybridge i5 processor, not the Ivybridge one. I've had if for about a week and I've noticed that my hard drive can only support 30 or so more GB of memory. I really want/need to get rid of that 60 GB of whatever it is that is taking up my computer's space. I suspect that it is mainly bloatware, but am kind of skeptical that bloatware could manage to occupy 60 freaking GB of space. But I'll go ahead and list all the programs that came with my laptop. Hopefully you guys can help me identify which ones I can safely delete. But if you guys know what is actually causing the memory problem, what else can I do to free up some space? Edit: Actually, at the bottom of the programs list it says all these programs only take up about 6GB. Regardless, please still help me identify bloatware and tell me what exactly it is that's taking up so much space? And I was also wondering: If I have a 128 GB SSD, why does it say: "31.4GB free of 99.7GB" and not "31.4GB free of 128GB"
