artist
Sigh! Don't desert me. :( No, didn't seem to help. Think we'll have to get chappie back.I'd just like a bit of sympathy as this is worse than having him sitting next to me when I'm driving! :(
Guest ellas
is there not the option to uninstall in add/remove programs.
artist
I reinstalled the office suite over the (minimum) installation that hubby had done and it did come up on the list but when I tried to uninstall it - that's when the m/s error message popped up to say there had been an illegal op etc. and it closed down. The said office suite , which seems to have started the whole thing off, has got all the components installed and seems ok.I can't help thinking it could be to do with an old version of m/s VM for ie 4.0 which hubby also put in - not sure why he did that. He also tried to install Word 97. I uninstalled both of those, did a search for any remnants, ran a scan and defragmented. No problems there.I'm about ready to give up. Where are the graphics filters?
Prince of Calcutta
graphics filters seem to imply photo editing software. do you have any such software installed on your comp? you said that you installed an office suite. which version may i ask? and is it m/s office? mark2
I would imagine the graphics filters are part of an imaging program , therefore software.ImageStream 97 dpes a search of your comp find any files /folders with this name ?
Prince of Calcutta
try downloading the latest version of internet explorer too , that would be ie6 and have a go since it also updates a few system files too and might cure your problems. also available on various magazine cover disks so you don't have to waste time downloading it
Prince of Calcutta
ok i found this page where all the variables seem similar to yours kernel error, windows 98 and office 97. still reading through it but have a look click here
Prince of Calcutta
have you seen this m/s kb article ? lots of things you can try click here i still think you should also update ie too
artist
I'll look and try all after lunch. Will put in IE6 have got virgin disc.He uses the comp for games, mostly, including CFS3 - which needed all sorts of updates etc for the graphics, so I understand. I know nothing about those things. Thanks for taking the trouble - although after yesterdays remarks, I think I'm owed. :)

artist
Ok - I will search for ImageStream. His comp is upstairs and it's only connected to the internet sometimes. Will definately update his IE - wanted to before but he wouldn't let me.That 1st site seemed to be about W95 ??MS- I did find it on there - article 235676.I put ImageStream uninstall in Google - lots of results - will have a bit of a browse there too. What fun it all is. :(
Prince of Calcutta
if you mean the link i gave before the m/s kb article , you'll have to scroll down about halfway down to get to the win 98 section.also have a look at add/remove programs if anything called image stream is installed
artist
I think I'm going to have to concede defeat on this.I did manage to install IE 6 - but with problems. When it came to 'updating the files' It stopped - got fatal exception and closed. I got it started and to my surprise the update completed. BUT - cant get on to any sites. It keeps going back to the home page. Bad download? There's error messages all over the place. And lots of MS report windows.I found a lot of files to do with ImageStream97 - looked at a couple, lost the search screen, went back to search - nothing showed up that time.I think it's beyond me. Will phone chappie tomorrow. Thanks for trying though.
