Tankus
IN A surprise move Tony Blair is to push through a ban on foxhunting in the autumn in an attempt to shore up support among restless Labour backbenchers. The TimesWell I suppose he has to buy off his backbenchers somehow ........I wonder if more time has been spent debating this , than Iraq.....?huh....! andsome
I'll believe it when it happens. It's about time someone did something about gormless idiots who actually find some form of sadistic pleasure out of chasing animals to their death. How we can be called a civilised country, when we allow this to happen, and then followed up by smearing the dead animals blood onto the faces of children, is completely beyond me. I eat meat in common with most of the population, but do like to know that THIS HAS BEEN KILLED HUMANELY. It takes a warped mind to chase animals for fun. I don't like Cheesy Blair, but sincerely hope that he does carry this legislation this time, not just for foxes, but for all animals. catgate
Doesn't any one find it strange that he is more concerned about a few foxes than the thousand of innocent women and children (not forgetting the innocent men) that he and his buddy have killed indiscriminately in Iraq (and Afganistan). andsome
All the above is true of course, but we still need something done about these wild animals that chase foxes and deer.
catgate
All the above is true of course, but we still need something done about these wild animals that chase foxes and deer. Is it not strange that our forward looking, considerate and resourceful leader has not proposed slapping a hefty tax on the hunting business. That way he could appear to be doing something whilst, as usual, achieving nothing, and also, as usual pleasing no one.

I stand by my statement. There is something seriously wrong with people who get pleasure out of chasing animals to their death.PHILISTINES PHILISTINES PHILISTINES PHILISTINES PHILISTINES. catgate
It occured to me earlier today, as I was ironing the cat, that there has been little, if anything, said recently about fishing as a "sport". There must be thousand of coarse fish, and thousands more "game fish", tortured and maimed, prior to some of them being killed, every day in this country (except for the 'closed' season of course). I can only assume that this is because it is primarily not the "Toffs" that sit at the side of the Leeds- Liverpool canal all year round wreaking havoc on the piscine population of our various inland waters. The number of fishes, so treated, must outweigh the numbers of foxes and deer, so treated, by thousands to one and yet there is no outcry from our vegetarian, childless, one parent, lesbian, green, CND, PC, ethnic minority, racially aware, anti establishment, do gooders. Odd init?
