Trojan Horse

Recommended Posts

Looking through Google - got notice 'Trojan Horse in files, run AVG'

Did that - nothing found.

So did that mean there was the virus in the site I had just clicked?

Only thing I've downloaded recently is Macro update.

Have only opened known emails too.

Seems ok to me - what do you think?

Was AVG just checking, or what?

Did the Norton on line scan.

Came up with 'one file infected with JS.Exception.Exploit' I gather it's a Trojan.

Don't want Norton anti virus scanner.

Checked it out again wth AVG - it found nothing.

Did search - nothing.

Where is it and how do I get rid of it?

According to the norton scan, it's in C:\ documents and settings\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\G1AZO16Z\index(1).html

If I delete the temp files, will that see it off?

Do you get a lot of pop-ups? Or get redirected (and popups) if you mis-spell a web address and IE 6 searches from the address bar (you'll still get to the MSN search page)?

Have a look in temp internet files for "[1].jpg" and delete it if it's there. That's the infected file. Then make sure you have search from address bar enabled, and type somthing that'll make it search. i.e. type an address wrong. If it re-appears in the files then you've got more work to do to clear it.

If you do post back and I'll explain further, I had the same problem.

Good, hopefully you've not get the version I had then, which was particularly nasty as it changed a few registry entries to re-instal itself on certain actions. If it does come back you should be able to get rid of it by changint the affected entries back to their original values.

Ironman.
