I've been missing the sound icon on my Systray bar on the desktop in ME. I tried checking the little box in sound and multimedia in the control pannel to display the icon and it was grayed out...... I then searched my comp. for volume controls, clicked them and they wouldn't open. I then looked under the Windows setup tab in the add/remove programs menu and it was totally blank... no Windows setup progam things for me :angry: SO.. I just know that this is somehow resultant of me deleting something from a windows system folder or something last week when I also deleted my apps.inf folder..... the thing is, I don't quite know whats missing and I don't know whats supposed to be there..... please help me!!!! :blink: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

nellie2 Posted June 21, 2004 Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 I'm not that familiar with ME but it sounds like you need to re-install your sound drivers. do you have device manager in ME.... can you look there and see if you have a little question mark or exclamation mark over your sound thingy in there. Scarecrow Man Posted June 21, 2004 Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 I then looked under the Windows setup tab in the add/remove programs menu and it was totally blank... no Windows setup progam things for meI have had a problem like this before, it was due to a registry checking program that removes invalid registry keys (and it was run under ME as well)First and foremost, I recomend switching operating systems, even win98 SE is better than ME.. personal opinion of course.But, if you do a system restore and it doesn't come back, you have probably done something with a third party app that has destroyed needed file(s). If so, please post what you did to make this happen and give a little more detail on the steps leading up to this problem.I've been missing the sound icon on my Systray bar on the desktop in ME.
