deploying patches externally...

well, basically have a server in a central location that will have patches/hotfixes that have been tested internally and after we verify that they're good to go, you could have an external client download them.

It would be better if it could be pushed so that it would just pop up on the client that the patch needed to be downloaded, but beggers can't be choosers....

I'll check it out.

But the first one is about the SUS from M$ and I don't believe that you can use that to deploy updates outside of a domain, only internally. I need to evaluate the updates internally and then have a way to get them to external clients...

Essentially this is what I want but I'm going to have about 4 or 5 computers that will be outside the domain (in a different country actually) and I'd like to have a way to push the patches and updates to their computers after I've tested them.

The only way that I can think of is to have a link that they can put in their start menu that goes to an internet site and then they can just click on the download for the patch that's been tested.

Well, a very basic way of doing this is creating an FTP site. You can test and upload the patches to the server, and then create a link on the clients desktop that will download the patch and run it when it is finished downloading.

I don't know of any programs already written to do this, but with a little knowledge and a lot of luck, it shouldn't be too hard.. right?
