Sun java is far from rubbish. In fact the MS version is so hacked, distorted, and strayed so far from java standards that it isn't compatible with many java applications and websites. MS so destroyed the java standard that Sun sued, and rather then loose Microsoft paid them a whopping 2 BILLION dollars and the courts stopped MS from distributing the broken version because it was a violation of contracts they had with Sun.

If you want true cross platform, standards based compatibility that works with "java standards" then Sun is the answer. If you want a version that hasn't been changed since 1997 and was never compliant with standards then get the inferior MS garbage.

You prove the point yourself very well when you say the MS garbage won't work with FireFox, it won't work with any other browser either. It is horribly broken and should be buried in a deep dark hole somewhere.

I use the MS inferior garbage VM and I have had no problems whatsoever.

My brief dalliances with the Sun "Coffee cup" software gave me nothing but trouble last year...Java apps just not running at all...or slow Java apps...Or Java apps crashing.

Bruce...You really seem to have no experience of Java apps!

I have MS VM on my webspace permanently...Just for ppl looking for the BEST,most compatible Java software....Ppl who are sick of Sun Java crashing or just playing up!!

I uninistalled MSVM a while ago and only have sun on my machine now. I have had no problems with Yahoo chat or anything else for that matter!

I followed the directions on the sun site and not only installed Sun but stopped VM from running and took it off my PC.

I suppose in the end it is a question of personal preference. What works best for you!

I have quite a bit of experience with java apps. I could send you several that would choke MS java.

You really shouldn't blame Sun for Microsoft Windows problems and ill running PC. :P
