I've used the free version for yonks and I'm wondering what I'm missing out on in terms of protection by not having the single user pro license. Can somebody explain in simple terms, please ?

Also, I just looked at the price on Grisoft,

European Union residents pay GBP 22.41 (incl. 19% VAT).

19% VAT ? Have I missed something ?

In all honesty, there is nothing in the list of extras that I can't do without. I also think that coughing up every two years is way heavy. Why can't they make their money by being good enough to constantly attract new customers for a lifetime license ? My firewall's got a lifetime license.

Thier free edition is a lifetime licence :D

But if they want to make ANY money, they'll have to charge something right?

I use AVG 7. The main reason is that after using the free version for very many years, I got pangs of conscience that I wasn't paying my way in supporting Grisoft.

I don't regret it.

It was suggested at one time that they were to stop the free version.

I'm confused?

Well don't be. I was just asking what the benefits were in the paid version. Looking at the posted list there aren't any for me. As much as I would like to support Grisoft, by buying the paid version anyway, I won't rent a license. I'd buy a lifetime license though. :)
