In "Quotes" (BBC Ceefax p. 146) yesterday there was a quotation from Clarissa Dickson-Wright saying that she knows Blair from their days when they were both barristers at the same Inn of Court. She says that his nickname then was Miranda but she goes on to state that she cannot tell us why. :whistling: :o :blink:

I may have the nickname slightly wrong but it was some very similar girls name.

In order to balance the argument could we have some Blair voters support his stance over Iraq and the appointment of Mandelson.

I support the stance Tony Blair took over Iraq for many reasons. Just the same as over two thirds of the country did at the time. Too easy to look back now with hindsight and say we should have handled it differently. :(

Peter Mandelson. I don't know him personally but from what I have seen myself on the TV, I like him. Don't forget, he was acquitted both times, in my eyes that means he was innocent. If this is the case what is wrong with him returning to the work he not only loves with a passion, but is extremely good at.

As to my political leanings, well that is something I prefer to keep to myself but from what I've said above It does appear I support Labour. Nothing could be further from the truth, I support the person I feel will do their best for us as individuals and our country as a whole, my vote is always used in all elections but not always given to the same person or party.

Yep, Tankus has strong opinions, I always read them and on the odd occasion agree with them, most of the time though I find them a little too deep to fully understand. I don't enter into the debate section simply because it does seem to be very one sided with strong opinions. By one sided, I don't mean political leanings, more a case of constant complaints, no praise even when it is deserved and with very few positive alternatives.

Tankus says he doesn't care what Shirl thinks of his views or opinions, I do! I always read others views, try to understand them and would never dream of stopping people from expressing them. Everyone has the right to express themselves, from the strongest to the weakest of us, who knows, we might even gain some knowledge from doing so.

Probably am complaining alot Doug .... I just cannot see any positives in this government ...I did vote for him in his first win ...(as the Tories were (and still are ) a busted flush ) I was cheated out of that vote ,as I did fall for the hype ....

He wasn't acquitted on the first instance ...he was not prosecuted (for mortgage fraud ) ..there is a difference ...!

He was investigating someone who he was in financial debt to , with out declaring it ... If a judge or a copper had done that , there would be considerable repercussions ...

Sigh. The coalition are required until Iraq can vote for itself. They will probably then request the departure of the coalition and invite temporary UN support. That route would satisfy all sane muslims and secular groups alike.

Leave any prosecutions to the ICJ. There's a bit of a backlog though.

The presence of the coalition murderers is precisely why their will never be fair elections in Iraq in the forseeable future. Unlike the new puppet regime, the coalition cannot place the millions of decent Iraqis in an ultra safe compound in order for them to feel secure enough to vote. The USA & UK butchers "we was only following orders guv" are the true antagonists and need to withdraw. The UN with a majority of Middle Easterners making up its contingent is the way forward.
