Hurdy
Been away for 5 days leaving 17 year old daughter in charge of the house.Microwave broken.Tumbledryer broken.Printer broken. These I can live with. However, I found 12 viruses so far on the main PC and removed them along with other nasties.Rebooted the computer and now I can't log on.Every time I try to log on it goes to 'logging off - saving settings' and jumps back to the log on screen.I've tried safe-mode, last good system and windows repair ( which isn't behaving as I remembered it )Any ideas? Please don't mention the 'R' word unless it's absolutely the final solution.Edit: Just re-read my post and I apologise if I sound a bit terse. :)
-pops-
No backup?Have you asked said daughter what she's been doing?Vague possibility of Blaster/Sasser worm with it shutting down but it is different to the normal behaviour of these things. Scarecrow Man
The computer does that when you haven't activated windows in the 30 day allotment. Have you done this?
Hurdy
Hi Scarecrow, yeah it's been installed about 18 months. The repair install seems to have sorted it.Even when the logon screen was showing AVG was popping up with a Trojan warning so I'm scanning again.
