Tankus
OK ...Ill bite ...how do you know that there is a difference ?Do you only perceive a difference in order to expunge the guilt of spending your money on yet another useless computer gadget on your self .... moon
:D KEBO 1200DWell, bearing in mind that a power cut while your hard-drive is working will, at the very least, damage the substrate and give you a 'bad sector' you'd clearly rest easier if it couldn't happen. With a UPS you can even set the slow-shutdown to give you time to save your files or you can set it automatic and it saves them for you. In my case, Rosi's PC, the one I built for here at WF, is necessarily on the same circuit as a fridge. I found that the power drain caused when the fridge kicked in was affecting her RAID array. I had to periodically rebuild the mirror. The UPS has sorted that, providing a smoothed suppy no matter what happens to the mains. I could go on, but I'm beginning to taste spam. :D

Sir Radfordin
We had a power surge at work today...thankfully the UPS did its job and filtered it out. Scared the life out of us though as it makes a lot of noise!
