Sir T Fireball
They have enough gold, artworks and other 'collateral' to feed the worlds starving and house the worlds homeless ten times over. Yet still they rattle the collection plate and squeeze a few pennies more from the Sunday congregation
moon
I think the theory is ' You can't take it with you, so give it to us' :D
catgate
It always appals me, when I look at the splendour of some of the great religious buildings, to think of the suffering that went on amongst the peasants to provide so much wealth (directly and indirectly) to furnish these hypocrits with the means of enslaving themselves to generations after generation of "sinners" servitude. There is a beautiful example in Ottobeuron in Southern Germany. Absolutely exquisite, but the sweat and tears are still "visible".
andsome
Isn't this just typical of man made religion in general, no matter what faith or denomination? It appals me that the Catholic church have tried to cover up so many case of these filthy beasts molesting innocent young kids. They should come under the surgeons knife. catgate
B) Yea..and don't forget the Catholic Inquisition..the period aptly referred to as The Dark Ages :PThis has struck me as having some significance. The Spanish/Catholic Inquisition occured about 1400 years after the founding of the faith, just when the power seeking/wielding clerics realised they were losing hold. It is about the same length of time since the founding of Islam, and guess what? Yes Fundamentalism has arisen, to try to bring the escapees back in line, like it or not. andsome
If you believe in a God, then pray in private or with your family or friends. You don't need men in funny hats and frocks. Do no one any harm, and help others when they need help. I am positive that if you follow that ethic, then God will think more of you than if you blow up others who go about things in a different way, in a different building where the leaders wear different funny hats and costumes.
