Todd26 Posted September 26, 2004 Report Share Posted September 26, 2004 Hey guys,I'm new to this forum. I'm having a problem with my screen. I'm using Win 98 SE and I'm on an IBM Aptiva if that helps any. What I'm experiencing is my screen getting cut off. For example,the X in the upper right corner is about half way off the screen. The time in the corner is cut off and almost off the screen. The Start button in the lower left hand corner is about half way off the screen as well. And the complete left and right sides of the screen are jutting in slighty like an hourglass. I thought at first it could have been the monitor but I reset the settings on the monitor and it still is getting cut off. If it isn't the monitor,what else could it be? Is there anything I can do to get the display to fit on the screen so nothing gets cut off? Could I have malware or something that would mess with the screen display? Anyone have any idea what could be going on? I tried going into the Display settings under Control Panel but I didn't know what to look for. Someone please help. andsome Posted September 26, 2004 Report Share Posted September 26, 2004 WELCOME to WF. You say you adjusted the settings for the monitor. Did you do this using the buttons on the monitor?? If you did was the screen then OK until you restarted? If it was, then one of the others will have to help. I am sure that someone will sort out your problem. Todd26 Posted September 27, 2004 Author Report Share Posted September 27, 2004 Yes sir,when I did adjust the monitor,it was with the buttons on the monitor. And after I set it back to Reset,it was still the same. That tells me it probably isn't the monitor. But who knows. And I tried to set it to 1024x768 and I could do it. But even when I did do that,the screen still jutted in from the sides and the corners were slightly off the screen. 16Bit High Color was selected when I checked. So I guess that's all ok.
