Rebel=UK=
hmmm A piece of legislation called the Piracy Deterrence and Education Act would make it easier for the Justice Department to prosecute Internet users who illegally distribute large amounts of music and other copyrighted worksso the general downloader should be ok

Northamuk
Redhat, if one uses P2P the mere act of downloading means that you have made your machine an UPLOADING device.

Redhat
Redhat, if one uses P2P the mere act of downloading means that you have made your machine an UPLOADING device. Not if you set partial uploads off and turn the sharing setting off for the particular file/files, I believe. Scarecrow Man
This is a hot topic, even in Canada. In Canada, there is currently NO law against file sharing (for now), but in the USA, they have been targeting people with 1000+ files in thier shared folder. If you download a song, and do not share it, they have to catch you in the act to be able to do anything about it.There is also news about the RIAA (Recording Industry of American Artists). They are attempting to get ISP's to hand over the IP's of people they have caught on Kazaa, example. [email protected] they would get all the ISP's to look up that name and IP address, and hand it over, so they can be traced. Fortuneatly, MOST ISP's are saying no, or get a court order.
