Kirk Posted November 29, 2004 Report Share Posted November 29, 2004 yeah, but ive tried to get both of those java prgs from sun and since the windows installer in sp2 is ver 3 it wont install either. trying to get offline ver of 5 to see if itll let me install that way. Kirk Posted November 29, 2004 Report Share Posted November 29, 2004 i also found out that im sure i dont even have even the msvjm on here. it shows use current virtual java machine under custom default settings but when i typed in that line that scarecrow gave to do the uninstall of msvjm, it said java.inf could not be found. so i think i dont have any java prg on here. so i wonder maybe i need to see if i can dl/d msvjm from ms and then try the online install of sun? what ya'll think? Scroll about half way through the list (between HTTP settings and Multimedia) and you will see Microsoft VM/Sun Java if either or both are installed. Kirk Posted November 29, 2004 Report Share Posted November 29, 2004 i just finished getting the offline ver dl/ded fromsun for the ver 5. and this time it installed ok. i guess i there was something going on with the online installers for both prgs. and yep it shows up in add/remove and in the ie options under advanced right where it did before when i had it on the other os installed. and my daughters been using the puter for 2 days and the wife too with no probs. and i got this installed while ago. so i guess time will tell if this was or was not the cause of that ms error 3 days ago after new install of os w/sp2. and after having done some searching round the puter for anything java related, and nothing came up at all, ive come to the conclusion that i never had it on here, meaning the msvjm, and that this release i got from newegg must be very recent since i read an article from ms that states that now all windows w/ sp2 no longer has msvjm on it. now that i have the java 5 installed i guess time will tell if that was or was not the cause of the prob. 3 days ago or not.scott Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Kirk Posted December 1, 2004 Report Share Posted December 1, 2004 well i just had another ie having to close error. when i was trying to click on the other thread pertaining to similar stuff we're yakin about. guess the java thing didnt fix that. its not serious like a total crash, just closes ie on me. Kirk Posted December 5, 2004 Report Share Posted December 5, 2004 well since the last time i had a ie had to close i havent got another one. but since i got that cumulative ie update the other day i had a crash on windows explorer. it was another sorry it needs to close error. nothing major. no system crash or nothing. and i also noticed that after the install of the ie cumulative update i get a red bar that will not defrag in diskkeepr. so i deleted it. diskkeeper is fine after that. defrags all. and no crashes yet. oh, and nellie, this is all after i installed my new os i got last week. the xp home w/sp2 intergrated oem full ver. i also have my security center on but everything is turned off. i use nis2005's firewall. Kirk Posted December 6, 2004 Report Share Posted December 6, 2004 yeah, thats what i mean too. it seems to happen if i have too many windows opened up or just try to go to a page once in a while. i did have another ie has to close error the other day. but im not gonna worry unless it starts doing blue screen of death system crashes on me. and it does seem to be working better since i got rid of that cumulative ie update windows update gave me. i do have it set to notify but not download. from what i hear all over, thats the best way.edit: its still crashed ie a couple times but not a major issue, jus annoying Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
