trevorjaydee
I have been advised by Windows Update to take IE6 on board but, although it downloads it won't install. I get the message that setup cannot install all the components and that I should a. restart the computer and continue the install or b. I should start afresh and reinstall. Although I have tried both suggestions nothing works. I have reduced the start up files to minimum and I have cleared all temporary files etc. but still nothing works. Any advice would be appreciated. Trev.
-pops-
I'm a great advocate of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."Are you satisfied with your setup as it is? If so, I suggest you leave it alone. You can cause much mischief in a system by carrying out unnecessary updates and so-called improvements - and just because it's Microsoft, it doesn't necessarily mean that everything will proceed well - as you are finding out now.If you really do want to install this update, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to sort things out for you (and disagree with my opinion :) )BTW: Welcome to Windows Forum

nellie2
There are some major security problems with IE 5 and lower so I would recommend that if you must use IE that you at least have version 5.
