awake
Strange problem with Outlook express 6 on a Win XP SP2 PC:Outlook starts fine and opens emails fine. But when you double-click on an attachment in the displayed msg, outlook closes down. This happens for different types of attachments.I've scanned for viruses and run adaware, finally cleaning the registry with Reg Mechanic all to no avail. This problem may well have started after SP2 was installed, though not sure.Any ideas anyone ? nellie2
Are you getting any error messages? Can you right click the attachment and save it to your hard drive and then open it?

awake
I'll answer both replies here:There are no error msgs at all when the attachment is double-clicked. Outlook Express instantly dies. Can't remember if I've already run SFC. I'll run it again for completeness.Ta for the replies ...
Scarecrow Man
1. Have you removed anything with the reg mechanic? If so, try restoring backups.2. Re-install Internet Explorer http://www.microsoft.com/ie/
