I've had a quick look through the help file but can't see anything that would apply directly to your problem. There are 2 PDF documents to download from AVG that will help with the setting up and configuration of the email scanner for Outlook/Express and a couple of other email applications. Have a look at these, see if it helps, meanwhile I'll have a play around with my settings to see whats there.

There are 3 documents, ignore the first one but download the second and third.

Reference guide and firewall installation guide. AVG

Unfortunately this did not resolve the problem, but searching around on other forums it has something to do with a microsoft outlook plug in, so following the advice given I right clicked the e-mail scanner box then left clicked properties and put a tick in ignore plug in status and since then no problems.

Edit must get a spellchecker for Firefox.

vikki if you mean the e-mail scanner is showing inactive, double click the AVG icon then right click the e-mail scanner box then left click properties and put a tick in ignore plug in status left click apply left click ok.

You say that avg is sending e-mails to everyone on your list, what is the content of them.

I didn't dare open them for fear of infecting my pc. I blocked it from sending them out,and that seems to have worked.

Thank you for the advice on AVG. :D

I just did an update and soon after zone alarm poped up to tell me that AVG was trying to axcess the internet, also there was a second AVG thing on my task bar spinning round with a box saying Avg was trying to axcess my pop3 client, or something close.

I just refused it permision.

Same thing happend here. When i refused to let it send the emails it seems to have solved the problem.

The spinning Icon is AVG trying to phone home to check for updates. Your firewall is asking you if you want to let it do so. To stop the question being constantly asked, give your firewall permission to let AVG do it's thing. After all if we can't trust AVG then who can we trust! :)
