Guest BaldEagle Posted March 31, 2003 Report Share Posted March 31, 2003 I am running 98SE with a Pentium II 266 MHz chip on a 4Gb HDD. This is split 50/50 into a C and D drive. On C I have 98 SE loaded along with Lotus Organiser/ WordPro, Go Back, Quicken, Mc Afee Uninstaller and Adobe 5.1. Consequently, C is rather full and D is nearly empty. Can I use drag and drop to move the programs to D drive? If I can, or reload them to D and uninstall the C version, how do I put shortcuts in C to the programs in D? mark2 Posted March 31, 2003 Report Share Posted March 31, 2003 you can safely move your my documents folder , to the D partition along with your IE temp files, but just dragging and dropping your program files across is unlikely to work as the references to them in the registry will be incorrect.You can install and run some programs from your D drive, but until actually installing and trying there is no way to be certain.A better option would be to resize your partitions using partition magic. There was a free fully functioning version (PM3) on several different mags recently but it was only to run from floppy disks, there may even be a free version on the Powerquest website but not sure about that.There are one or two other similar programs you could try which may also have free versions, try google to see if it comes up with any. I can delete D but when trying to resize C it only "moves" the drive on the disk not "stretch" it. Hope this makes sense. When it doesn't work I use GoBack to revert the system to as it was.
