artist
I have lost the connection from scanner to PC - the printer, fax copier is fine.I did a couple of system restores - back on November 4th all worked fine. The problem with that is that AVG is no good - wrong language error, it says. I can't remove AVG to reinstall - just keep getting the error. Too far back I guess. With the system up to date - a troubleshooter for the printer says to reinstall the scanner - but when I put the disc in, I get a message saying it isn't compatable with my system. If I take out AVG before doing a restore, will that work or will it just put back the old AVG.If I go back to when the printer is ok, what will happen if I remove that then - and then come up to date again? It's a 950 series HP combination printer. I am on XP home.

djohn
Hi artist,With your system at its current date [Today] remove AVG then restore to Nov. 4th. If I read your post right, the scanner should then work, if so leave at that restore point and re-install AVG. Don't bring back to current date as that will just alter everything back to how it is now. :)
artist
Thanks djohn - it was logic I wanted and you seem to have clarified it - I hopeI'll have a go at that when I'm properly awake and alert.
