Damo
I've downloaded the Live CD iso for Ubuntu Linux, it was a compressed file, so I used winrar to extract it all, but how do I make this a bootable CD??I have Nero, and selected to Burn an Iso, but it only created an image file on my harddrive and not on a cd...........so I then use windows inbuilt software to copy that image file to the cd, but it's not bootable! So, what am I doing wrong and how do I do this.....step by step..........just 'imagine' i'm a complete numpty! Chris
You shouldn't have to use Winrar for anything with this. What file and URL please?
Damo
This is the dowload location of the file:http://releases.ubuntu.com/warty/warty-release-live-i386.isoWhen It was downloaded it was a WINRAR file called: ubuntu-live-i386at 658mb
Chris
OK that file show up as an ISO file. Winrar can deal with ISOs but you've used the wrong app in this case. The file you downloaded, put that into nero and see what it says.

Now click on Recorder>Burn image. When the next box open, select all files from the drop down box, navigate your way to the folder with the ISO in and select it.At the next screen click on ok (do not modify) On the last screen prior to burning ensure that you click on "Finalize Cd" box and select your burn rate.Thats it NERO will now burn your ISO/IMAGE files
