Dagger969
My windows crashed so i installed a fresh copy on a different hard drive but I need to get my files off of the old one. I tried but unfortunately everything that was on my desktop is now encrypted and unreachable. I have the password for it, seeing as how its the same as my new copy but I dont know how to get my files off of the old install. Does anyone have any ideas? Michelle
Have you tried a 'repair' option on old xp first?
Dagger969
No I was angry when it happened so I was kinda in the "well fudge it" mood. So I just installed fresh but maybe that will work. I may be able to do a repair on the old one. Good idea. simplicity, I was trying to do it the way hard way. Thanks
nellie2
There is a nice guide here on repairing XP. If you have any problems or it doesn't work then let us know and we will think of something else.
Dagger969
No luck with the repair. I used a bootable version of linux though, Knoppix STD, and it was able to help me get my stuff off.
