Chris Posted December 19, 2004 Report Share Posted December 19, 2004 Could this cause long term problems on the computer?It could do.Some software installations [maybe all?] hold a record of the installation source for example G: witch could be your CD-ROM drive. If you ever needed to repair an installation that some applications allow it will look for the CD at the original installation source.Overtime you may change you drive letters etc so it will not work. It's simple to fix just change back the drive letter to what it once was :DCopying to the desktop will have the same implications i think, so you would need to copy everything to the desktop if needed.
