oveur69 Posted December 26, 2004 Report Share Posted December 26, 2004 Can someone please help?I have a brand-new system (ABS Computer) that came with XP Home SP2 installed.Some of my USB devices work (USB microphone), while others do not (card reader, game controllers).*** ALL of these USB devices DO WORK on other computers. ***And, I've even tried a separately-powered USB hub, and the card reader/game controllers still don't work.I've checked Device Manager: there are NO question marks, exclamation marks, etc.Is anyone else having this trouble, and can anyone provide recommendations? Chris Posted December 26, 2004 Report Share Posted December 26, 2004 If the system is new then return it, you shouldn't have to fix it if it came broken.But in saying that, I have a similiar problem. I guess I tend to think that it's not the system's fault... as I mentioned, some USB devices DO work properly, in ALL ports. That tells me that the system is OK (but, perhaps I'm wrong).Regardless, I'd gladly return the system, except that I already installed a ton of applications and data files already on it --- removing everything and re-installing later will be a major headache.With that said (sorry for being ignorant), how do you update the USB2 drivers?Thanks! If it is brand new it has to be fit for the purpose for which it was intended, that is the law plain and simple. You would expect to be able to use the computer, and the fact that you have installed programs onto it is the suppliers problem. Personally I would NOT accept a repair, I would insist on a replacement or a refund. As I said however, I don't know where you stand in American law, ask around and find out.
