Good idea.....there are plenty of other forums if people want a heated debate about the war.....plus debates like that tend to get people angry and sometimes go over the top and upset someone!

he he :-)™ It appears he/she joined Tuesday 1st April 2003, misread an intended joke about an Iraqi official and got hot under the collar.

It reminds me of the John Cleese quote in Fawlty Towers. 'I mentioned the war but think I got away with it'.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Just noticed it could be Djohn, if it is, and I helped offend him, then get him back and I will quit.

I've mentioned before that posts could be misread and look what I've done.

It appears that if Djohn comes back, I will quit. What I meant was that if I had offended Djohn then I would be prepared to quit in his place.

Personally I find it hard to understand how our boys and girls, who signed up to serve Queen and Country, are there in the first place. My dad was killed in World War II fighting against a United Europe, Hitlers ideal, and now the Germans and French are 'ruling the roost' and some French morons are even defacing War Grave Memorials. It makes my bloody blood boil.

Cookie, you and all the members of this forum have not offended me in any way at all. In fact many of you have been very understanding and supportive.

This means so much to me, I have only spoke of this once, and only in this forum. Yes my Son is in Baghdad City itself, and has been for several weeks.

But this is something I shared with you all, once it was safe for me to do so. :(

Now as far as I know he is safe and well. And doing his job, a job he his highly trained to do, life must go on for the rest of us, and there are many times I see the black side of this situation, but also there are many funny moments, and as I watch TV, there have been many times that I have wanted to laugh, but find other emotions take over.

I did say I would not raise this in the forum again, but the concern that "Cookie" has shown for my feelings, has prompted me to do so.

Please all of you carry on and debate the issue of this war, that is good, and to find humour is also a healthy release of one's feelings.

I take no offence at all, because I know for certain that non is intended toward me.

I just want you to know that for the reasons above, I personally wish to sit to one side, and not enter in to the debates.

Now please, everyone, enjoy the forum and it's humour and friendship. I will still be here at least once a day, unless I do a He He!

Thank you for those 'common sense' words Djohn.

But perhaps we should all remember that some will be upset when we seem to be making fun of war.

Not anyones intention I'm sure, but sometimes off the cuff comments can come too close to home. :(

I have certainly been guilty of foot in mouth syndrome :(

Thanks Djohn, your reply shows exactly why I was prepared to quit if I had offended you.

May your son and all the others get back safe and well very soon.

All our thoughts are with you.
