homecomputeraid Posted January 5, 2005 Report Share Posted January 5, 2005 The first thing to try is reseating the cable to your Hard Drive as the message suggests.From the message you're getting, either the Hard Drive is having a mechanical issue, or the OS has been severely damaged (the message seems to suggest a physical Hard Drive problem though). My first guess would be a hardware issue with the drive. To check that, you can use a Windows 98 Boot Disk and use fdisk to see whether it recognizes a Hard Drive being present. You can also check your System BIOS and see whether it recognizes a Hard Drive.If you're still working on the issue, please post for help navigating your BIOS or making a Win98 Boot Disk. scuzzman Posted January 7, 2005 Report Share Posted January 7, 2005 It also might have a problem with the NTLOADRPut in your XP disc and boot from it.When prompted, select the recovery console and issue these commandsfixbootfixmbrRemove CD and reboot. If it's running win95-me, you'll need a boot disk. There are thousands available for download.
