When surfing the internet, the system runs very slow. I have tried using different dial-up numbers to no avail.I'm using gateway Pentium ® 4 CPU 2.60 GHz, 2.59 ghz, 496 mb of ram, XP Pro with service pack 2. 80 gigabytes on the C:\ driveAny help is appreciated.tony-fr-si Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted January 9, 2005 Report Share Posted January 9, 2005 It is not quite clear from your comments if your operating system is slow, or your Internet connection.If your system is slow, have you tried Ccleaner and disk defrag? Also check for spyware using Lavasoft Ad-aware or Microsoft's new AntiSpyware ?If your connection is slow, what is the supposed and actual connection speeds? Or, as you wrote in your initial post, your system is slow when surfing the Internet?If the latter is the case, that would indicate that the driver for your modem/router may not be ideal.What browser are you using?
