Rebel=UK= Posted January 25, 2005 Report Share Posted January 25, 2005 i need some fast software for copying DVDs at the minute i use DVD shrink to do it, but that takes 30mins to analyze and 1hr 30 to encrypt. Tony Posted January 25, 2005 Report Share Posted January 25, 2005 HiMy pc is only a 2.2 AMD xp with 512Mb ram and it it a lot quicker than that.Make sure that the option for "Deep Analysis" is swithed of, as this can add a lot of time to the encodeing process.But your disk analysing should only be around 40 seconds or so, so something is wrong somewhere with you system.I have found that Shrink DVD is one of the quickest programs around for what you want to do.Good luckTony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The analysis was much quicker than I first thought - as per Tony.I always use a dedicated HDD for video work and I reformat it often. If you are unable to do that, then ensure you are well defragged as video files are very large and can be shoved anywhere on the drive making them difficult to re-locate on a heavily fragmented disc.I can't think of any other explanation. :( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

-pops- Posted January 26, 2005 Report Share Posted January 26, 2005 One machine I have will do the work without the soundcard (Extigy) attached so I'm a bit doubtful it's that.Do you have a separate hard drive you can use for your video work? I've found that vital to be able to do video processing with editors such as VideoFactory, Pinnacle Studio 9 or WinDVD Creator. All of these, but especially the Pinnacle, do a lot of file shuffling during processing and I would think that DVD Shrink may well do something similar. If anything impedes this, like having a heavily fragmented disc or even one containing a lot of data, you could find this causes a slowdown such as you are getting.
