Full steam ahead!Once again, the Bush administration has chosen to ignore clear and compelling scientific evidence and to let industry dictate how the federal government protects the health of its most vulnerable citizens.In a report issued Thursday, the inspector general of the Environmental Protection Agency said the agency's senior management ordered staff members to overlook scientific evidence and agency protocols in order to make certain proposed limits on mercury pollution reached a predetermined conclusion - one that conveniently aligned with the administration's free-market philosophy.The report provides the latest example of how the administration is willing, even eager, to risk the public's health for the benefit of industries - in this case coal-fired utilities, the largest producer of mercury emissions in the United States.Full story available at The Register-Gueard. Bush evidently maintains that global warming does not exist, despite all the evidence.
