Just allow non-donators to have the option of a coloured name/ blinkie of their own.

Like ellas said in the original thread, not all donators will want to advertise the fact they donated. It's upto the individual if they want to have a blinkie stating they donated.

I have PM'd mmmbisto to ask her about doing a "Windows Forum Regular" blinkie for other users to use on their signature (if they want to). It will be the same size as the donator blinkie (same number of letters) and make the donator blinkies less "in your face"...

;)

Perhaps the blinkies are a bit too 'in yer face' for those that can't for whatever reason donate, maybe seen as a bit elitist.

If everyone had a blinkie it would slow the site a little, important for those on dialup and PAYG connections.

Every member brings something to the forum and so donates in their own way, whether it is time, knowledge or WHY.

Exactly mark2. I use this forum regularily, and have felt quite alienated recently..... :(

If I can help someone, by solving a problem/ recommending a service/ advising a software update/ just messing around having a laugh then isn't that what this forum is about??? Alot of people cannot afford to donate (some won't like using PayPal), and not everyone has a credit card...

As for 56k users, I don't mind blinkies taking time to load. They shouldn't take too much space up, they aren't much different to the smilies/ avatars.

I think Mark has a good point there. Not sure I like the purple now.....perhaps it is confusing for new members. I have kept my blinkie for now not because want everyone to know I sent some dosh off......it wasn't much!!!......but as a reminder to people that they can donate if they wish.

I might take it off soon now that there are more people blinking away!!! :)

I've made my vote, and from my signatures, you will know what it is.

At first I was very proud to have my title, the little bar does look nice! But I did take it off for a while, because I started to feel conspicuous.

I put it back again last week as more where being shown, but today I have removed it again.

The donations that I will make over the years to come, will be small and what I can afford at the time, But I don't want to feel, or be seen different from anyone else :(

We are all the same here, and we come here for the same reasons, those of us that can afford a couple of pounds now and then, should do so to help Craig with the cost of running the forum. (It must be high), but the last thing we want is, two camps.

"Those that do and those that don't".

"Donate I mean"
