deuces wild
Has anyone recorded their VHS tapes onto DVD using their computers DVD recorder? If so, what hardware and software is needed and what is the approximate cost?Does the resulting movie degrade in picture quality once transfered onto DVD or is it the same quality as on the VHS?Thanks in advance for your responses. :)

Rebel=UK=
can ya not just buy a cheapo TV card?
deuces wild
I don't know. The NorthQ 6600 A->D converter is not available in the States. The Hauppauge PVR seems a bit pricey.Looks like my choices are DVD Express , a Plextor Convertor (a bit pricy) or possibly a tv card.Has anyone had any experience with the DVD Express or tv cards?? -pops-
Pinnacle/Dazzle to a number of A->D converters for transferring VHS to DVDI'm surprised that the NorthQ product is not available in the US. Its default TV system is NTSC which strongly suggests it is primarily aimed at a US market.
deuces wild
My google search results for NorthQ 6600 A->D converter yielded only UK, NE or Russian links. I will give it another go along with a search of the Pinnacle and Dazzle products. Is there one particular unit from these companies that you recommend for my inteneded use?Edit: NorthQ's resellers: http://www.northq.com/reseller.html
-pops-
Any chance of buying direct from Denmark?Regarding Pinnacle etc, let me have a look tomorrow - it's past my bedtime now :) One thing though, Pinnacle processing is long and involved and takes huge amounts of hard drive space. A one and a half hour video takes seven hours + to render on to DVD and requires 40GB+ drive space. This drive space is recovered afterwards but it is necessary for it to be there.
