hi

is there a program or service that operates in (real time) which lets a user know exactly what task or process his cpu/memory or overall windows system is executing at any given instant? Im not talking about TASK or PRCOESS managers were u have to call them up and they allow u the option to view what your system is running and if u want to kill it. Im talking more about a small backrgound or system tray program that maybe utilizes tool tips or whatever to inform the user what the system is doing at any given INSTANT in real time.

Im looking for an accuarate explanation of why my system might have a brief slow down. Sometimes the cpu jumps or the page file goes over 1GB, and killing a program doesnt have much affect. It seems based on randomness so...

i have xp pro sp1

thanks

p.s.

any idea why my always connected dsl connection is having SLOW periods (lasting several hours) and then returning to normal broadband speeds (that last several hours) only to once again drop to SLOW periods. This affects SURFING speed and causes enourmous lag, both in firefox 1 and ie6. DL/UL speeds seem unaffected and are peaking, which is good. Restarting the browsers has no affect and the slow and normal periods occur at random and i cant explain it any better, sorry.

p.p.s

is there a program that allows automatic reposting of forum threads? I have a lot of questions and store many forum sites in my bookmarks. Currently, im forced to go from one site to the other, MANUALLY and post the same copy/paste thread at each forum (which takes up to 15 min). Is there a THREAD or FORUM POST filler similar to ROBOFORM or something?

I hope not :( I can spend hours researching a question for someone and then get no feedback what so ever. It seems to be a bit of a waste of time if people who are asking questions are multi-posting :(

Anyway... to answer your question, have you looked at event viewer in XP?

Start >control panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools

if youd like feedback you can just say so in your post

i was under the impression you just wanted to share advice not have a discussion

the thread filler is about priniciple nothing personal. the more forums i hit with the same question, the more usefel responses i can gather. Its just more effecient, especially if my questions are unique AND/OR i recieve no replies.

The more forums you post to, the more the possibility of getting conflicting advice, thus ending up more confused than you were before you asked the question.

At least by keeping to one or, at most, two forums, anyone replying can see what answer has been given and, if they agree, can concur, if they disagree, they can explain their reasons.

Some of the helpers here are also doing a similar thing on other forums. If they see the same query appearing on a multiplicity of sites, they are most likely to ignore it thinking that someone on another forum will answer.

Without feedback how are people to know whether, or not, a posted solution was successful, or otherwise.

no i find the more opinons i gather, the better - if they conflict than i question the conflict and learn from it, so far that hasnt happend. Most of my questions dont arouse conflict.

if answer providers are checking other forums and theyve noticed me, please specify so i dont make u read my posts twice. I didnt know the internet was so small that the forum readers here were also reading what ive wrote at other forums? id figure they were independant and had thier own answer providers

i will endavour to provide more feedback, its just that when i recieve an answer i like, i get really excited and i immedialyet get underway to execute it and in my excitmente i forget all about the thread. This is a childhood trait of mine, sort of like asthma for some people. Its something that becomes part of of you...and you adapt to accept it as opposed to fighting it and trying to change it.

i love you all :)
