LADYDEB
Hi there everyone, :D This is really just a throw-in query. Mainly because I think the monitors probably gonna have to go back to the suppliers. Its been weird for quite some time now. The main problem is that for no darned good reason what so ever, the screen image suddenly goes blue (usually) and fuzzy. Its difficult to explain exactly without someone actually seeing it. The fuzzy effect can be all over the screen or sometimes limited to particular blocks or header bars etc. It started only a couple of months after I got the computer so maybe its just a faulty screen and I do have extended cover with the supplier, so could send it back if necessary. Its just a pain to have no monitor until its fixed!Don't know if anyone's come across this kind of problem before, but any input would be greatly appreciated.Ladydeb
bvw
Yup, had the same problem with 2 of those.......got all my money back in the end.I did not deal with the shop (Comet) but direct with the manufacturer.
LADYDEB
Hi bvwDid you manage to find out what exactly was wrong with both your monitors??I tried contacting Nfren several times, just to ask if they knew what might be wrong, but absolutely no reply. Blank! If its not repairable, I had better get my finger out and sort this. Don't want to be left with a dud monitor. I thought that it might have been a setting that was incorrect or something. Thanks bvw, I'll get onto the company I bought it from first thing!!RegardsLadydeb :)
bvw
There's nothing you can do to fix the problem.......and I know exactly what you are seeing on your screen......bleeding, especially on darker areas where it's more noticeable. Be careful when the machine boots because you won't be able to see anything on the POST screen....it'll all be out of focus and unreadable. If you've not reached that stage you will sooner or later I guess.I suggest you phone them for a swap-out asap....they are in Ireland but Brands in Scotland do the swap-outs for them.....they take about 2 weeks to replace the TFT. Again, you may well find dealing direct is much quicker than going back to the shop....... I did. My replacement only lasted a few months and ended up with the same faults......when I phoned them again explaining what was happening they gave me an RMA number which I took to Comet who refunded me the full purchase price.Don't delay.......when the warranty runs out you will be lumbered with it. deuces wild
Sounds like a manufacturer to avoid doing business with in the future.
LADYDEB
Mmm.  Maybe a bit of a problem there. The extended warranty was actually with Tiny Computers. The original guarantee with the manufacturer would have expired by now, so I have to deal with Tiny (yes, I know it was a big mistake buying from them. But at the time, I couldn't afford a computer straight out and had to use finance). I have a suspicion that they won't be well chuffed about taking the monitor back. Also, I am thinking that I saw somewhere that I may have to pay a £25 carriage charge to send the monitor back. If they are only gonna fix it or replace with another Nfren, I might be as well cutting my losses and buy another monitor??! :( Thanks you guys for you comments. I'll contact Tiny and see what excuses they manage to come up with. If I get anywhere I'll repost.RegardsLadydeb :flowers:
bvw
The monitor does have a 3yr warranty.Good luck with Tiny....give them a ring and see what they say, you've paid your extended warranty, let them sort it for you......you've paid for it :)
deuces wild
I did not want to appear unsympathetic to your problem with my comment LadyDeb.However I think that information like this is benefitial to all, thus my comment about avoiding products manufactured by Nfren.Good luck to you and I hope things get sorted out to your satisfaction. LADYDEB
No worries deuces wild,Your comment didn't come across as unsympathetic. I am happy to hear all opinions!! :) As bvw has also experienced problems with Nfren, it would be, as you say, valuable for others to realise it may be unwise to purchase their products.I will post again when I find out more.Bye for nowLadydeb
bvw
The only thing I can say in their favour was that when my replacement TFT suffered the same problems as the first (and I can only assume they knew exactly what the problem was, which must have been a common fault and no doubt they must have had many complaints....assumptions on my part of course) they told me to take the monitor back to Comet and get a full refund.Comet refunded me the full purchase price.....and I walked out of the store with a brand new Acer 14ms response 17" TFT plus £101 in my pocket.I won't buy any Nfren ( also known as I.T.Works ) product again, once bitten........ LADYDEB
Just a thought bvw,Do you have any contact information for Nfren (I.T.Works), a customer service e-mail or phone number would be great. Oh, yes I meant to put TFT (not lcd) in the topic title. Silly me  I am well known for mixing my everythings up!!!It must be the blondeness coming out in me!Oops, I've gone and admitted it now. Nobody'll ever take me seriously again.Hee hee!! Not that they probably did in the first place. Lol! :P Maybe I will get a faster response from Nfren than Tiny, so best to keep my options open. Any info would be great bvw. :) Take careLadydeb
bvw
Yes, I have.......you'll have to let me find it first though.......now where did I put it.......................
LADYDEB
Cheers bvw,I shall await you very welcome reply!! I may be shuffling off to bed in a mo tho, so if you post again I'll catch it in the morning!Night night.Ladydeb
bvw
0870 6062633 will get you through to the member of staff I spoke to. They will ask you for the Serial Number of the TFT (it's on the back, easily found) and date of purchase.Try to find all the documents you had when you purchased your machine...you will need them. If they do help you make sure you get a reference number and make a note of it.If I remember rightly they don't open until 10am.
LADYDEB
Hi bvw,The number you gave me was actually for the Comet customer support centre. No probs, I rang Tiny and they want me to do the great switcheroo, put the Nfren monitor on another computer and put another monitor on this computer. This is to - supposedly - establish if its the monitor or the graphics card thats the problem. I have agreed to do this for 2 reasons;1. It may keep them happy long enough to replace the monitor :P 2. If I tap on the top of the monitor when its fuzzy, it generally does the trick and the screen clears. However, I can't tell them that can I?! Because they would then say that I damaged the monitor by tapping it. I'll play along then ask that they take it back. Thanks for all your help so far!Take careLadydeb :P
bvw
The number you gave me was actually for the Comet customer support centre.Sorry Ladydeb.....it was one of the numbers I rang which was on my notepad that I keep by the side of my computer.....the monitor warranty etc is in the loft somewhere, heavens knows where now :) Good luck! LADYDEB
Hi bvw,After many phone calls back and forth to the technical line, I have at last succeeded in arranging for the tft to be returned. Not that Tiny are delirious about it though. I think their ethos is 'put 'em off till they go away'! Anyway, should have the whole thing sorted within the next week, so many thanks for all your help bvw.Take care.Ladydeb :D
bvw
Excellent :) Extended warranty was worth it then :)

andsome
Glad it got sorted. Why do some suppliers kick up such a fuss, and cause problems for themselves?
LADYDEB
:D Hi You know Scuzzman, it took nearly 18 months to actually get a working monitor out of Tiny. My perseverence limit has ssstttrretttcheddd to the max. Every time I phoned them, I was; put on hold, transferred to a different department, transferred to yet another different department, cut off, told they would ring me back x 4, (still waiting for that one!) and basically jerked around. I did consider asking for the warranty to be extended, but this just brought me out in a clammy cold sweat, at the thought of getting back on the merry-go-round. And so, my considered course of action was, YIPPEE, I got a new monitor. Fab. If it lasts me another year, I'll be content with that!! :P Thanks you guys for all the encouragement!Deb :flowers:
