benb
Hello,Because I am trying to install Linux, I need a non-USB keyboard like the one I have now. I need a regular ps/2. So, I am trying to use the ps/2 keyboard from a different computer. Whenever I plug it into the one I am trying to install on (dell dimension 8400 if it matters) it just doesn't work. Not only does Win XP not recognize it, the lights to show Caps Lock etc aren't on. Whereas if I plug it into the different computer it works instantly. The other computer is running Win XP too. This is very strange, and very annoying. Could it be because I still have the USB keyboard connected whenever I try to do it?
Boris
I suggest that you remove the USB k/b. If the PS2 one then works - you will have answered your own question.I guess there is a conflict with both connected ?
benb
I don't know what I did, but it just worked... I didn't even unplug the USB. Thanks for the quick reply anyways :) This is a great forum
