SniperRogue
Hey, my name is Nate and I've been a steady computer user for many years now. A month or so ago, my computer had been starting to slow down, lagging up badly, so me being the person I am, checked for viruses and spyware. Bad thing is for the spyware checker I used XoftSpy. Well not thinking anything of any of the 400 something hits I got on my computer I removed all of them. (No I didn't pay money for this feature, used cracked... sorry if this makes me a bad person) Well when I tried to open Internet Explorer everytime all I would get is the standardThe page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please try the following:Click the Refresh button, or try again later. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting). Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings. Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK. Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed. If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0. Click the Back button to try another link. Cannot find server or DNS ErrorInternet Explorer I decided just to download FireFox as a backup and its worked ok, except for the media players that screw up when they are on the site because of something about WMA and Firefox *shrugs* Well I've grown tired of not being able to see certain movie trailers, music videos etc. on the net because of some misfunctioning program. Can anyone help me with Internet Explorer? I've tried reinstalling the program, it hasn't worked... so... any help would be appreciated.~Nate
scuzzman
Not having ever heard of that program, I really wouldn't call it "reputable". Are you running WinXP? If so, have a run with RegScrubXP, then post a HiJackThis Log in our Hijack This and Spyware Removal Support forum.I'm thinking corrupted registry key, but this should give us some more information. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I would first try to run the System File Checker to make sure that you haven't lost any system filessfc /scannowYou must have your Win XP CD-ROM available for this.If this doesn't help, you might try to upgrade to XP-SP2; this replaces almost the entire OS, including IE & OE, so your problem will almost certainly get fixed.
